Inspirational Photographers

Ronen Goldman
Ronen Goldman is an innovative surrealist photography who manages to convey stories and externalize emotions throughout his work. This is particularly apparent within work from his project 'the surrealistic pillow'. Below is an example of one such image where he uses a false perception to make it appear as though the man is hanging and the woman falling. The location of the camera and lighting within this photo works well with the story being conveyed as it helps to fade out the floor below the man making it appear as if he is hanging from a great height.

This photo works with the idea of control depicting it in a way that both draws the viewer's attention and presents them with questions about the truth. This photo is intriguing because of these questions which the viewers are confronted with, such as the problem of free will. Are our actions really our own?
Erik Johansson
Set them free

Erik Johansson is a Swedish photographer who uses his work to capture ideas rather than just moments. One of the main reasons that his work intrigued me was because of how seamlessly they all fit together. One of his photos can be made up of  hundreds of different images yet he manages to deceive the viewer. In this particular image he is toying with the idea of freedom by using the horizon line of the sea to show distance and possibilities that are being opened up.

The cover up

This image focuses on the concept of deception and covering up the truth with fantasy. I really like this photo because of all of the different aspects that have gone into making it, for example how he has made the landscape look like wallpaper and how clever the idea itself is. he is also using our perception to deceive us by using the position and angle of the camera to make it appear like the man is right next to the power line.
